Uses

Compter

My main computer is a MacBook Pro 16" (2023) with a M2 Pro chip, 16 gigs of memory and 512 gig SSD. I like it's hardware but the OS isn't my favorite(expecially coming from i3wm and arch), to be a little more specific the OS is fine but lack of window manager ruins it for me (yes, I have tried amethyst and yabai)

Macbook Pro

Accessories

Before buying this 16" laptop I had the 13" MacBook Pro with intel i5, and although it was a decent laptop the screen was too small, so I ended up buying a 24" 4k monitor from LG.

Here's a list of accessories I use:

  • LG 24" 4k Monitor
  • Keychron K6 Keyboard (mecahnical keyboard)
  • Apple Magic Keyboard
  • Logitech Pebble Mouse

Headphones

I currently use the Bose QC35 II, they are a little old but they are great for comfort and as a entry level headphone in audiophile world, although I wouldn't recommend them or any similar headphones for anyone looking for a beginner audiophile headphones. There are better options for the price, but these and similar headphones (sony XM series) charge a premium for their market placement as relatively luxurious consumer headphones.

Wishlist

I am looking to buy a pair of open back (maybe planar magnetic) headphones, I am thinking of the Hifiman XS along with a DAC and amp, I have heard great things about the hifiman and I am looking to try them out.

Home Server

For some reason I am obsessed with home servers, this was before me becoming a strong advocate for self hosting. My crrent setup is a single node proxmox server with a few containers for services like databases, bitwarden, dns server, nextcloud and a VM for a wireguard server.

My current usage of the home server is pretty low, but I am looking to add more services to it in the future. I currently use a mini PC from ASUS with an intel i7 8th gen, 16 gigs of memory and 512 gigs of SSD storage and a 8 gig memory Pi 4.

Wishlist

I have been browsing ebay, serverbasket, etc sites for years and as soon as I can afford it I would like to buy a 2u server, specifically the Dell R730 with 128 gigs of memory and 900 gigs of SSD storage. I can alway upgrade memory and storage later. The only thing that I am not sure about is the old CPU and slow RAM being able to handle LLMs on top other heavy workloads.

Cloud

I have a few VMs in the cloud for testing and deploying apps I build

  • Git Server (1GB RAM, 0.25 VCPU, 30 GB Hard Disk)
  • Nginx Server (1GB RAM, 1 VCPU, 50 GB Hard Disk)
  • My ISP uses CGNAT and DDNS doesn't work for some reaseon so I create a SSH tunnel from my home server to this server and use nginx reverse proxy to access services outside home network

  • Backend Services Server (12GB RAM, 2 VCPU, 50 GB Hard Disk)
  • Database Server (6GB RAM, 1 VCPU, 50 GB Hard Disk)
  • Monitoring Server (6GB RAM, 1 VCPU, 50 GB Hard Disk)
  • Secondary Wireguard Server (1GB RAM, 1 VCPU, 50 GB Hard Disk)
